Industry Specific ComplianceThe Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) on July 30, 2026, issued the IRDAI (Third Party Administrators - Health Services) (Amendment) Regulations, 2026, further to amend the IRDAI (Third Party Administrators - Health Services) Regulations, 2016.

It shall come into force from July 30, 2026.

The following has been stated:

• The amendments replace references to the Medical Council of India with the National Medical Commission, revise the definition of the Insurance Advisory Committee, and mandate that TPAs with majority foreign shareholding must have either the Chairperson, CEO, Principal Officer, or Managing Director as a resident Indian citizen.

• The amended regulations also introduce a new registration renewal framework for existing TPAs, provide for continuous validity of registration subject to payment of an annual fee of ₹50,000 plus applicable taxes, prescribe timelines and late fees for renewal and annual fee payments, and allow suspension or cancellation of registration for non-compliance. 

• Further, TPAs are required to disclose related-party transactions, submit quarterly reports and audited financial statements to IRDAI, and publish such disclosures on their websites. The amendments also update provisions relating to taxes, introduce additional grounds for regulatory action, omit obsolete provisions and forms, and include transitional arrangements for certificates issued or renewed under the amended Insurance Laws.
